On Monday June 19th, the Computing Laboratory held its inaugural Post Graduate Conference. The conference involved 22 research post graduate participants showcasing their work in the form of a poster. In addition, each participant produced a two page research paper. These were compiled into conference proceedings as a Computing Laboratory Technical Report (for a copy please contact a.mercuri@kent.ac.uk). Leading up to the conference, each submission was reviewed by other participants. This provided an excellent opportunity for the students to receive feedback from their peers and exposed some of the newer students to the review process.

There were over 50 in attendance and the posters were commented by many as high quality and provided a good forum for post graduates to share experiences and results. It is anticipated that the conference will continue as an annual event allowing post graduate students to present their work to academic staff and their peers. There was a poster prize allocated on the basis of votes from both students and staff and these were awarded to:

  • Nick Miles, Alex Simon and Simon Haggett

Honourable Mentions also were given to:

  • Pulitha Liyanagama, Sabrina Panëels, and Gisele Pappa Lukas Sklenar
