Professor David Chadwick has been awarded £130,000 by EPSRC for research into cloud security as part of the Data Intensive Systems (DaISy) call for proposals. The project, entitled “Sticky Policy Based Open Source Security APIs for the Cloud” is due to start on 30 May 2012 and will last for 12 months.
Professor Chadwick, an expert in policy based authorisation systems and identity management, is being joined on the project by Dr Sureshkumar Perinpanayagam from Cranfield University, who specialises in intelligent data mining and classification at the Integrated Vehicle Health Management Centre at Cranfield.
The overall strategic objective of the project may be summarised in the phrase "Everyone should be able to specify their sticky policies for fine grained access control to their cloud resources, and have these enforced everywhere at all times".
