Computing at Kent is in the top 20 for "Job Prospects" out of all Computing departments in the UK, according to the Guardian league table for 2011. Our outstanding record of graduate employment is testimony to our innovative work placement schemes, strong links with industry, expertise in teaching and our reputation for producing top quality graduates.

As reported in the University Annual Review 2011, the School of Computing remains a clear champion for industrial placements, providing a Year in Industry for nearly 70 percent of its students. This programme provides real commercial experience with leading companies worldwide including Cisco, IBM, Microsoft, The Bank of England and Intel in the USA, UK, Europe and Hong Kong. Students can also engage with local SME-sponsored projects via the Kent IT Clinic which links companies with students.

Head of School Professor Frank Wang said:

"Employers are very keen to employ graduates who already have work experience. The year in industry is a key to finding employment after university. A decent salary provided by the placement provider not only allows a student to enjoy his/her year away from University but also provides that student with financial stability for his/her final year. On the other hand, the experience itself is priceless."
