My project consists in the development of an efficient Brain-Computer Interface (BCI) for use on disabled patients whose only source of communication is attention, which can be detected by analysing Electroencephalograms (EEG). Hence, my areas of interest range from human cognition and human-computer interaction to advanced AI techniques (such as Support Vector Machines) which are useful in analysing EEG.
I am a member of the following research groups:
My current areas of research are:
I am currently employed as a sessional class supervisor for the following modules:
You can contact me about one of those courses using my staff e-mail address: M.Filetti@kent.ac.uk
I often run EEG experiments; if you would like to participate in one, let me know. These experiments last around 60-80 minutes and are paid 8 pounds. A calendar showing available slots for experiments can be found here (if there aren't any free slots in that calendar, send me an email).
I'm originally from Legnano; I studied briefly at the City College of San Francisco and at the University of Bologna before coming here at Kent, where I obtained a first-class degree in Computer Science with Artificial Intelligence. During my experience at Kent I participated in the IAESTE program (which I highly recommend) that allowed me to spend 3 months working in Japan.
I'm also a supporter of free and open source projects, such as Ubuntu and Wikipedia.
