Research Interests
I belong to the following research groups:
My chief research interest is CALL (Computer Aided Language Learning), with a particular focus on feedback. I have developed a novel web-based CALL system (LISC) which features language-independent error-diagnosis modules, meaning that it can be easily adapted for use with many different languages. This system won the University of Kent's Annual Learning Support Prize in 2005, and follow-up research led to the award of "Best Paper" at the 12th International Computer Assisted Assessment Conference in 2008.
A description of the way LISC works - and why it is so useful to students - is available in the form of this brief Word document.
LISC CALL
You can access the LISC CALL system here (see above for more details).
