Publications

My publications are available from the Computer Science department publications repository.

Hardly recent, but this link may still be useful if you find yourself looking at a copy: Contents, errata and other material forDatabase Systems Engineering published by International Thomson Computer Press, 1995.

Research Interests

I belong to the following research groups:

I work on mobile and ubiquitous systems and, from time to time, on visualization and description of ancient environments. My mobile work is centred on location and context-awareness, particularly in field sciences.

Where am I? View my last known location (or rather, that of one of my PDAs or phones) as grid coordinates, or latitude and longitude, or placename (note that these three may not all refer to the same place of time). You may be able to infer what I am doing from a more extensive context listing: context listing. None of this is guaranteed to be accurate or up-to-date. The information provided is that reported when one or more context-aware devices last contacted the MobiComp Context-Aware Infrastructure. Indeed, I may have lent one of the devices to someone else and be somewhere else doing something completely different!

Recent collaborative projects:
EPOCH EPOCH, the European Research Network on Excellence in Processing Open Cultural Heritage. An EU funded Framework 6 Network of Excellence.
GROK GROK: Genealogical Relations of Knowledge. Funded by the EPSRC and the ESRC as part of the E-science programme in collaboration with the Royal Anthropological Institute
