Standards within the World Wide Web consortium (W3C) aim to adopt a declarative approach to describing artifacts such as animation (SMIL), graphics (SVG), interaction (XForms) and so on. Often these approaches are limited and ad hoc, and when the declarative approach is exhausted, authors are forced to revert to a scripting language (such as JavaScript).

The aim of this project is to extend the capabilities of XML based standards using ideas from functional programming languages.
