Funding opportunities for research students

Each year the School of Computing offers several scholarships. For general studentships we have:

  • awards that cover both fees and maintenance ( £13,590 per year in 2012-13). Only UK and EU applicants are eligible for these, they are not available to residents of other countries.
  • a number of fees-only awards. Applicants from any country are eligible for these awards.

These awards are typically for three years for PhD students, on satisfactory progression through each year of study; and for one year for students taking an MSc by research. They are awarded on a competitive basis.

The Alumni Research Scholarship, for alumni of the University of Kent, is open to applicants from any subject. The successful candidate will be selected on the basis of academic excellence, achievements to date in their chosen field, their communication skills and their contribution to the life of the University community.

For other sources of funding you will need to verify the details and applications procedure from those particular organisations. Other funding sources are listed on the university web site.

We will consider applications at any time for studentships that do not involve funding from the University of Kent.

To apply for postgraduate study please complete the online application form. To be considered for early funded entry in 2014, the application has to be in by January 31st 2014.
