FIRST LEGO® League 2009 Information

Who can take part?

We welcome applications from schools across Kent.

Things to consider

Cost:

The registration fee for 2009 is £150 per team. In addition, new teams that are not already using the LEGO® Mindstorms equipment will need to spend 250-300 pounds on LEGO® parts and software.
A breakdown of costs has been provided.

Supervised time:

The benefits of taking part come largely in the preparation time that the teams put in. This is where they develop team working skills and do their problem solving. Teams need sufficient time working together with access to the equipment. In most schools this is time outside lessons but with adult supervision. You need to be sure that you can provide this at least during the period from the middle of September until the competition date in late November. It is highly recommended that several adults are involved with the teams so that they can remain supported if one of the adults encounters problems in giving the support. You also need access to a suitable room on a regular basis.

How to register

Send expressions of interest by email to (fll-admin AT kent.ac.uk), so that we can send you information. Please include your name, school and telephone number.

Registration for the competition will be done via the national website at http://www.firsthandtechnology.org.uk, the FIRST LEGO® League UK national website.

When you register, you will need to provide details of the lead teacher, any other teachers involved, the person who should receive the invoice, and the name of the team as well as estimates of the ages and gender of the team members. Most details will be editable later on, so don't worry too much at this stage.
