What courses can I study? The range of computing degrees at Kent caters for the wide variety of interests of our students and reflect the requirements of employers, making our graduates highly skilled and in great demand.
Direct Entry to the 2nd YearWe welcome applications from suitably qualified students for direct entry to the second year of any of our programmes. Your prior experience and education must broadly cover the topics in our Stage 1 modules; you take a special bridging course to cover any unfamiliar material. Innovative teaching with research-led coursesOur courses come from a research environment of international excellence. Staff feed ideas from their leading-edge research into courses right through the curriculum. For instance, one of the School's research groups focuses on Natural Computation, which uses biological systems - including the human immune system and the behaviour of ant colonies - as an inspiration for writing new sorts of computer programs. This world-leading research is offered to students in a number of courses in the final year.
We also use innovative teaching methods and tools in our teaching: for example, our introduction to programming is based on the Java language and the BlueJ learning tool, which is developed in the School itself. The key text book on BlueJ and Java is authored by two of our staff. |
