Loan Laptops

Are there any laptops that I can borrow?

Yes. We have a modest collection of laptops that can be borrowed for short-term usage. (For example: whilst you are attending a conference.)

Currently (August 2006) we have:

  • 1 x Dell Inspiron 8100
  • 3 x IBM R50e
  • 1 x Sony TR5MP
  • 1 x Sony T2XP
  • 2 x Toshiba Satellite Pro 6100 installed with Windox and Linux

Loan camera

Is there a digital Camera that I can borrow?

Yes.

It is a Fuji Finepix S5000.

Loan Equipment Availability

Who can borrow a laptop or the camera?

Only staff and research postgraduates can make use of loan equipment.

Length of Loans

How long can I borrow Computer Science equipment for?

The laptops and camera that we have available are for short term loan only e.g. whilst you are away at a conference.

If you need a laptop for a longer period please contact the systems group (see: Contacting the Systems Group).

Foreign Travel and Loan Equipment

Can I take the loaned equipment abroad?

That is usually not a problem, however you will need to contact the secretaries in S115 to arrange insurance.

Borrowing Equipment

How do I go about borrowing a laptop or the camera?

Come to room SW103, or email cs-syshelp@kent.ac.uk to book a laptop or the camera and then collect it on the day you have booked it for.
