Module details

CO880 Project and Dissertation (60 credits)

Introduction

This module follows on from CO885 Project Research and runs over the summer through to the end of the course. During this period you are able to develop an individual or group project of your choosing, and are free to work on it unencumbered by conflicting academic pressures. The module provides an opportunity to investigate a single topic in depth and to have the satisfaction of developing an artefact from the point of conception to completion. For many students this is the most interesting part of their Masters programme and one which will likely hold interest for potential employers.

Support throughout the project period is provided on a one-to-one basis by a member of academic staff, with whom regular meetings are held. The project culminates in the production of a dissertation.

Syllabus

The project will develop your ability to research literature, to understand and expand on a specific technical problem commensurate with your programme of study and relate it to other work, to carry out investigations and practical work generally including programming and describe results and draw conclusions from them and to write a coherent and well organised dissertation.
