CB904 Structure and Organisation of the E-enterprise (15 credits)

Aims

  • To introduce the notion of firm capabilities.
  • To show how firms can obtain, develop and retain capabilities.
  • To show the importance of organisational structure and management.
  • To explain generic activity and process models.
  • To show how capabilities can be extended through virtual organisation.

Outcomes

  • Understand the importance of capabilities in the knowledge-based economy.
  • See the need for a learning/knowledge strategy and its link with human resource strategy.
  • Understand organisation structure and design.
  • Understand management theory.
  • Understand generic processes, outsourcing and the virtual enterprise.
