- To introduce the notion of firm capabilities.
- To show how firms can obtain, develop and retain capabilities.
- To show the importance of organisational structure and management.
- To explain generic activity and process models.
- To show how capabilities can be extended through virtual organisation.
Outcomes
- Understand the importance of capabilities in the knowledge-based economy.
- See the need for a learning/knowledge strategy and its link with human resource strategy.
- Understand organisation structure and design.
- Understand management theory.
- Understand generic processes, outsourcing and the virtual enterprise.
