25 March 2026 – Canterbury
We wanted to update you on the situation following last week’s meningitis outbreak. As we noted in our last emails, this is a regional public health matter and not specific to the University. The response is being led by the UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA), and we are working with them and partners as the situation unfolds. Up-to-date information and guidance from the UKHSA is available:

The University released a statement on Friday, 20 March outlining the measures being taken to ensure the safety of all students, staff, and visitors. We hope this provides reassurance regarding the University’s response. A copy of this statement is available:
Following the UKHSA guidance, there remains no public health reason to suspend normal University activity, and while our students are now on Easter break, we hope to begin to return to more usual ways of working.
We look forward to welcoming you to campus soon.
