Hide-and-Seek: Search in the Encrypted Domain
School of Computing - Cyber Security Group Seminar
Speaker: Dr Yogachandran Rahulamathavan (Loughborough University in London)

Abstract: Due to the recent developments in smart devices and systems, the users of this technologies are revealing privacy sensitive information such as their biometric samples (images, voice and emotions) and personal data to unknown parties with or without their knowledge. For example, Google, Facebook and Amazon are collecting an enormous amount of personalised data and exploiting them for known and unknown causes. This talk is dedicated to analysis the latest trend in cloud computing, crowdsourcing and Big data and to discuss privacy-preservingtechniques to protect the users' data without degrading the usability of the smart systems. State-of-the-art techniques such as homomorphic encryption, multi-party computations and randomisation will also be discussed.
