How to Apply

We are pleased that you are considering studying for a Master's at the School of Computing. Each programme has certain requirements, so please read through these to make sure you are choosing the right programme before you apply. The application form can be filled in online and has guidelines to help you complete it.

Entry requirements

For information on the requirements for English Language and health, please go to general entry requirements If you do not reach the standard for English Language, you can attend a pre-sessional English course. There is no age limit for postgraduate degrees.

Academic qualifications

The qualifications needed vary depending on whether you are applying for a conversion Master's, advanced Master's or IT and Business Master's programme. Applicants whose qualifications fall short of the requirements but who have relevant work experience will also be considered and are encouraged to apply.

Taught Conversion Master's programmes

A first, upper second (2.1) or good lower second (2.2) honours degree (or equivalent) in any subject.

Taught Advanced Master's programmes

A first, upper second (2.1) or good lower second (2.2) honours degree (or equivalent) in computing or a related subject.

Taught IT and Business Master's programmes

A first, upper second (2.1) or good lower second (2.2) honours degree (or equivalent) in any subject. Applicants must have a keen interest in, and sufficient prior knowledge of, information technology (which need not have been gained via formal academic study).

Research Programmes (MSc and PhD)

A first or upper second (2.1) degree or advanced/specialist taught MSc in computer science or a related discipline (such as mathematics, business studies or electronics, as long as the degree has a strong computing component).
