Mr Konstantinos Patlatzoglou
PhD Project Summary
My focus is to understand the neural dynamics that generate different states and levels of human consciousness (e.g. during normal wakefulness or in altered states like sleep, sedation an meditation), using computational frameworks and brain imaging data from electroencephalography (EEG). Specifically, I'm interested in investigating machine learning models in order to extract knowledge that describe and predict these various states. These computational tools could eventually be used to improve diagnostics and prognostics in several medical applications (e.g. emergence from coma, assessment of patients with disorders of consciousness, etc).
