My publications are available from the University of Kent's Academic Repository.

Research Interests

I belong to the following research groups:

I am a member of the
Centre for Cognitive Neuroscience and Cognitive Systems
at the University of Kent.

I am the founder of the
Brain|Cognition|Computing Lab,
which provides a platform for interdisciplinary research.

I am founding the Brain|Cognition|Computing (BC2) Lab at Medway equiped with three sets of EEG equipment. Please go to BC2 website to book a slot for using EEG equipment. Before I joined the University of Kent as a Lecturer in 2011, I had research experience at Imperial College London for both PhD and research associate. My main area of research is in signal processing and its applications in body sensors, including: EEG-based biomarker discovery for brain diseases, neurofeedback applications for medical and sport applications and brain computer interface. Also I am working on signal processing methods including : adaptive filtering, tracking methods and machine learning methods for pattern classification. Keywords: EEG, EMG, body sensor, biomarker, Alzheimer's disease, Epilepsy, wavelets, hilbert transform, time-frequency analysis, phase synchrony, BCI, adaptive filtering, SVM

PhD Supervision

I am willing to supervise Ph.D. students in the following fields:
  • Research methods: signal processing, machine learning, statistical analysis, data fusion
  • Application 1: diagnosing, classifying and monitoring states of brain health/ illness
  • Application 2: brain computer interface and neuofeedback for psychology and medical uses
  • Application 3: body sensor data fusion and analysis for healthcare and sports
  • Application 4: multi-modality analysis of brain imaging
  • PhD Applications and Scholarships

The School of Computing offers funding opportunities for PhD study. If you are interested in applying for a PhD with me or discuss about the scholarship opportunities, please email me to discuss about research projects available. You may visit here for funding information under Funded Research Studentships in Computational Intelligence or Future Computing.
