A big welcome to international students
Although we are known as the UK's European University our appeal is world-wide. Over 20% of the university's full-time students are from overseas with over 130 different nationalities represented. Our popularity is due to many factors, including our academic reputation, generous funding opportunities, safe and friendly campus, great location and outstanding computing and study facilities. International students also benefit from our English language support, international students' welcome programme, good student accommodation, multicultural environment, work experience opportunities and excellent employment prospects.
Bedour Al Shaigy

" The University of Kent is rated one of the top universities, well renowned for its research and excellent facilities. But most importantly, the students are the main concern, providing guidance and support throughout and after the academic year, equipping the students with the proper tools and skills to face the professional world. A special welcome and support throughout the year
To help you settle in when you arrive, we hold a special Welcome Week which takes place before the start of term's lectures so you have time to relax, make friends and find your way around. Activities take place within the School of Computing and across the university. We also have a buddy scheme which allows you to contact other students from your home country.
Kent Student Union has over 100 student societies. Many are for international students, such as the Afro-Caribbean, Asian, Chinese, German, Hellenic and Japanese societies. We hold international events throughout the year including Thanksgiving, Chinese New Year, Europe Day and WorldFest.
International links and visiting international students
We have been very successful in building up international partnerships worldwide. One of the benefits of these partnerships has been to develop student exchange programmes enabling international students to experience studying and working in the UK.
We are delighted that students from EPITECH, Paris, have chosen to spend their study year abroad with us to study one of our taught Master's courses. EPITECH is our French partner university and is a leading higher educational institution specialising in Computing and IT. Staff from both institutions have enjoyed exchange visits under the Erasmus programme.
Our Hong Kong placement exchange programme, set up with our partner, City University (CU) of Hong Kong, enables two CU students every year to come to the UK to spend a term on campus studying alongside our own computing undergraduates. This is followed by a six month industrial placement with global technology company, IBM, at one of its leading software development centres based at Hursley, UK.
The School of Computing has a tradition of welcoming students through international exchange programmes. We host an Erasmus student from RWTH University in Aachen, Germany every year to study our final year modules and students from Eötvös Loránd University in Budapest, Hungary to work on a project related to the Erlang programming language. We also regularly welcome short-term IAESTE students from all over the world.
