Abstract for Seminar

Jericho Forum is an Open Group forum that challenges the prevailing views of corporate IT security and argues that current security mechanisms and models fail to scale in the modern corporate computing environment. In particular Jericho Forum identifies the main symptom of this failure to be the over emphasis of the corporate firewall as a security boundary and argues the case for a radically different approach to security based on Deperimiterisation of the corporation, removing the security function of the firewall and relocating security mechanisms to where they are likely to do most good, i.e. at the resource being protected.

I have been an individual member of Jericho Forum for the last two years and I will attempt to give an give a personal view of the motivation behind Jericho Forum and Deperimiterisation and the issues and problems that are raised in trying to find a new security model for business activity.
