Passwords/ Protecting Intellectual Properties
Passwords play a key role with our daily interaction with computers and systems. It is used to check authoristaion to a computer or system.
When creating a new password, the new password
is encrypted and store away in the system. Whenever the user wants access to the computer,
algorithm is used to unencrypt the password. The output is compared with the users password, if its correct
then access is granted to the user.
We are frequently asked to change our passwords whether, on social networks, email addresses, on new computers at home or on work computers. The systems often recommend that we use both letters and numbers in the new password and other keyboard characters.
What is a good password ?
"Passwords are better if they are longer, at least eight characters, and if they contain a mix of uppercasse and lowercase letters, numbers and, if allowed punctuation characters."
Steps to chossing a good password
* Choose a personal interesting topic or quote
*Develop a password from the topic
*Now fit it to match the requirement whether 8-10 characters or add numbers.
At the end the password must be simple and easy to rememeber.

Protecting intellectual property
These are things created by human and are owned by the firm or business where the innvoation was created. This can take form in patent, trade secrets, copyrights, or innotaive ideas.
Licensing Software
When you purchase a new software CD, the ownership still begins to the company, you're just leasing their product.
This means that:
There might be restriction on how many computers, the software can be uploaded on and if you wish to have more than allowed then you will need to purchase another CD.
You are not allowed to sell the software to others or give it away. If you do, then you are going against the terms and conditions. It is only permitted, only if the owner gives you right to do so.
In some cases, you are allowed to try the software for a period of time, to see if the software will cater to your need. These are usually 30-60 days trials. Terms and conditions are also included in this scheme.
Open Source Software
Mozilla, Firefox, Seamonkey, Epiphany, Mozbraille are open source software becuase they are pudlicly available to all memebers of the public. When a software is released sometimes its free, after a few years it is them improved with the help of the public and other proffessional software developer, then the ownwer starts to charge for the usage. By doing this, users are aware of the program and know how to use the software effectively. This will motivate then to purchase the new software.

When a person creates a webpage all rights belong to them, but if its created as part of thier jobs. In this case, the rights belong to the comapany.
Copyrights protects the right of the ownner from others:
* Making a copy of the work.
*Using the work to paraphrase another.
*Distributing or publishing the work.
*Pudlicly performing the work in any shape or form.
*Publicly displaying the work.
Some of the work on the web can be used for personal use, it can be printed out to read and enjoy for yourself and you can only post the link to your friends. This is why its on the web. For some sites, permission is needed before you can use the work and you must reference the source.
Fair use is considered to be the middle point between free personal use and need for permission. This is mainly for educational purposes.
