The Computer Science web site consists of the main web site (CSWeb) and the staff intranet web site (CSIntra). The respective CSWeb and CSIntra web site URLs are http://www.cs.kent.ac.uk/ and http://intra.cs.kent.ac.uk/ . Staff publish mostly on CSWeb which hosts all the teaching, research and staff information for both local students and external users. Staff only rarely need to publish on CSIntra which hosts sensitive information regarding exams, departmental committees and the like and is restricted to staff access only. To publish in either of these sites you will need to access the relevant file store
The Computer Science web site was originally designed in 1996 on a UNIX system and much of the original mechanisms and related documentation for publishing web pages reflects this emphasis on UNIX. Many staff now use Windows for much of their work and prefer to edit and publish web pages from Windows. While authors may edit and create files used in the publishing process from their Windows platform, the final stage of building the web page using a build script must be done on a UNIX platform.
