School of Computing

Library services

We have a budget for buying books, journals and other library services for our subject. All students and staff of the School of Computing are welcome to email suggestions or queries.

Books

If a book would be useful for your work (a particular module or research into other computing areas), but it does not exist in the library yet, it probably should:

Every student and staff of the School of Computing is welcome to suggest books. Note that some core books are meant to be purchased by every student on a module. However, if books on a module reading list are inaccessible because of too high demand for the available copies, then please inform library staff or me.

Journals, conference etc.

We subscribe to several packages that give electronic access to a hugh number of articles in journals, conference proceedings and other collections.

Journals in other packages, which are shared across the university, can be accessed from the library search for online journals, conference proceedings etc (Computing is under Engineering & Applied Sciences).

For off-campus access to some of these electronic services above you may have to go through the library web pages, so that you are recognised as a member of the University of Kent and thus allowed to download papers.

The last subscriptions to printed journals, conference proceedings etc stopped in 2011. However, the library still provides access to these old printed copies, some of which we do not have electronic access to.

Inter-library loan provides access to articles in publications we do not subscribe to.
