Tuesday 1 February 2022 marked the Lunar New Year. Every year a different animal from the Chinese Zodiac is celebrated and this year it is the Year of the Tiger.

You can find photos from the events on our School of Computing Facebook page:

We were delighted to welcome our students and staff to celebrate with us in J's Tea Bar in the Jennison building. We kicked off with a welcome from Director of Division Ben Cosh and a presentation on the Year of the Tiger from the University of Kent Chinese Society, before enjoying some Chinese inspired food. Students and staff then got stuck in to a variety of games and crafts including Go, Chinese chess, paper folding and puppet making.

It was lovely to see so many of you there and fantastic for us to be able to hold events in person again. Thank you to all of those that came and to those who helped us with the event. We want to say a special thank you to our academic staff Ben Cosh, Yong Yan, Gang Lu and Lijuan Wang for their support with the event. We also want to say a huge thank you to the Chinese Society and our Equality, Diversity and Inclusivity (EDI) reps who worked incredibly hard helping to plan, set up and run the event.

We hope that all those who attended enjoyed it as much as we did and we look forward to doing it all again next year for the Year of the Rabbit.

Happy Lunar New Year!
