The School of Computing has been awarded Silver in the inaugural University International Impact Award scheme. The award is a new venture which recognises and rewards international achievements within schools and departments at Kent. The scheme has been devised to share key areas of good practice across the institution, which have had international impact over the last 18-month period.

The School was ranked on five different criteria and was one of only eight departments to be given a silver award. An award of £1000 and a certificate have been presented to the School to recognise this achievement.

School Administration Manager, Angela Doe said; 'Computing is, by its very nature, international, with common global languages. We are delighted that the School has been recognised for its participation in the global academic and computing communities and wider industries too. Our staff are active in shaping computing the world over, including leading on cyber security and computing education projects and our students have the opportunity to work in many different countries as part of their Year in Industry.

‘We also welcome academic colleagues from around the world, have an annual cohort of Master's students from France and bring in research funding from Europe and beyond. More recently we have set up a new link with the National Institute of Informatics in Tokyo, Japan and have shared our expertise online in a series of masterclasses which have been accessed the world over via YouTube.'
