I'm running the London Marathon!

Update: I completed the marathon last weekend. I finished in 5 hours, 1 minute and 4 seconds. Slightly longer than I'd estimated, but I'm still pleased to have finished. It was one of the most physically challenging things I've ever done, but it was definitely worth it. The atmosphere was brilliant, and the weather held out too. Thank you to everyone who sponsored me!

On the 21st April I'm taking part in the London Marathon. That's a 26.2 mile run around the city of London. I've been training for months, and have fought my way through a number of injuries and lots of cold weather!

I recently took part in a half marathon in Cornwall, and I've also run from Dover to Canterbury, Deal and Sandwich as part of my training.

I'm doing this partly for a personal challenge, but also to raise money for charity. The charity I've chosen is Barnardo's because of the fantastic work they do to care for children and young people.

But I need help to reach my target goal, and that's where you come in. I'm looking for people to sponsor me for the run. I'l be really grateful for anything you can give. You can do it easily using one of the methods below:

Online

You can make a donation online through JustGiving. It's quick and easy to do and goes straight to the charity. I have a joint page with my friend, who I'm running the marathon with, here:

By text message

Donations can also be sent by text message. Just send JOGS99 following by an amount in pounds to 70070. For example, JOGS99 5 to donate 5 pounds.

In person

I have sponsorship forms in my office (S122A, School of Computing) if you'd prefer to do it that way.
