Students at the School of Computing have had another vintage year of placement offers. Over 100 students will be going on a paid industry placement as an integral part of their degree. The students have secured placements with a diverse range of organisations from Kent-based start ups to prestigious global brands such as Rolls-Royce, Sky, Net-a-Porter, IBM and Disney. They include jobs in countries in the UK, Switzerland and Hong Kong. Many of the placements are with organisations who have employed Kent computing students before.

Placement Officer Katie Van Sanden said, ‘It’s absolutely awesome! We are so proud of each and every one of our students for securing these placements. Some of the processes are tough and our students have shown resilience and determination to secure many of these jobs. This is a pivotal year for their futures and their careers start now.’

Ten of the placement have been secured by Master’s students.

Pedro Garcia, a student on the Computer Science with an Industrial Placement MSc has just finished his placement with Influential Software. He said: “I want to take this opportunity to thank you for your continuous support and help, and for giving me the chance to get commercial experience. It has been a fantastic journey, full of highs and lows, but above all, full of personal growth and professional development. I found a junior position in London, and I am really looking forward to it. I hope you can find as many students year on year to take on fantastic placements opportunities.”

All of the taught programmes at the School of Computing include the optional Year in Industry, including the Master’s programmes.

Applications for the Master’s programmes are open until 30 August and students can apply for the undergraduate degrees via Clearing.
