School welcomes new lecturers

Drs Carlos Perez Delgado and Dominic Orchard have joined the University of Kent as a lecturers in the School of Computing.

Dr Carlos Perez Delgado

Carlos is a member of the Security Research Group and the Future Computing Research Group and has joined the School from Singapore University of Technology and Design where he was  Senior Research Fellow conducting and disseminating scientific research in the areas of quantum information and quantum computing. He has an undergraduate degree in Computer Science from Universidad Autonoma de Puebla in Mexico and a PhD in Computer Science from the University of Waterloo in Canada.

Carlos said: ‘My main research focus has been to further our knowledge of the advantages and limitations that quantum theory conveys to communication, computation, metrology, and security.’ His work has gained global media attention and been cited on wikipedia.

Dominic is a member of the Programming Languages and Systems Research Group and will be teaching on the new Year in Computing programme.

Dr Dominic Orchard

Dominic has an undergraduate degree in Computer Science from the University of Warwick and PhD in Computer Science from the University of Cambridge. He worked as a Research Associate at Imperial College London and Cambridge before joining the University of Kent. He is a fellow of the Software Sustainability Institute. Dominic is a big fan of functional programming and does research at the intersection between semantics, logic, and types.

They will both be based at the Canterbury campus.
